1. Introduction
Snap×Sensei (“the App”) is an AI-powered study aid that lets users upload photos of questions (“problem images”) and receive AI-generated explanations. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the safeguards we apply.
2. Information We Collect
a) Personal Information
- Sign-in with Apple (Private Relay) – When you create an account, Apple supplies a proxy email address. Snap×Sensei never receives your real email.
- Support e-mail – If you e-mail us (e.g., bug reports, feature requests), we see the address you use and any information you include. We use it solely to respond and to improve the App.
b) Problem Images & Extracted Text
- Images you submit are uploaded to Firebase Cloud Storage; text extracted from those images is stored in Cloud Firestore.
- Both remain until you delete them in-app or delete your account. They are never reused for model-training or any other secondary purpose.
c) Usage & Device Data
- Analytics – We use Firebase Analytics to collect aggregated, non-personal metrics (e.g., screen views, session length) to improve performance and stability.
- Device info (model, OS version, app version) is transmitted with crash or support logs.
3. AI Processing
- Extracted text is sent from Firebase Functions to Google Gemini for answer generation.
- Gemini receives only the text needed for that single request; Snap×Sensei does not store Gemini’s responses beyond your personal history in the App.
- All transmissions use TLS encryption.

5. Data Storage & Security
- All data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).
- Stored files use Firebase’s server-side encryption at rest.
- Access is restricted via Firebase Security Rules tied to your Apple UID.
- We perform periodic security reviews and maintain least-privilege API keys.
6. User Rights & Controls
Within the App you can:
- View or delete any problem image, extracted text, or explanation you own.
- Delete your entire account, which removes all associated Firebase records.
- Manage subscription or consumable “coin” purchases in iOS Settings > Apple ID.
7. Subscriptions & In-App Purchases
Snap×Sensei offers auto-renewing subscriptions and consumable coins. Payments are processed through Apple StoreKit; we receive only anonymised purchase receipts required to unlock features.
8. Device Permissions
The App requests:
- Camera & Photo Library – to capture or select problem images.
- Notifications – optional, for reminders and completion alerts.
No microphone, location, or other sensitive permissions are requested.
9. Children’s Privacy
Snap×Sensei is not directed to children under 13. And we do not knowingly collect personal data from such users.
10. Data Retention
Unless you delete content or your account, images and extracted text remain in Firebase indefinitely. Support e-mails are retained for as long as needed to resolve the inquiry, then archived for up to one year for internal accountability.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be announced in-app or via another appropriate channel. Continued use after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
