Privacy Policy – StepOn

1. Introduction

StepOn (the “App”) is a body composition tracking app that allows you to record body metrics by direct entry and by syncing from Apple Health (HealthKit). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the safeguards we apply. “We”, “our”, and “us” refer to Cob App.

2. Information We Collect

a) Contact (Support)

If you email us at cob.support@cob-app.com, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use this information only to respond to you and improve the App.

b) Body Composition Data (On-Device)

What you create or sync: Weight and body fat percentage (including timestamps associated with those records).
Where it’s stored: Your StepOn data is stored on your device in the iOS app sandbox.
No developer servers: We do not store your body composition data on our own servers.
No sale / no model training: Your body composition data is not sold and is not used to train AI models.

c) Apple Health (HealthKit)

StepOn can read the following HealthKit data types (if you grant permission):

  • Weight
  • Body fat percentage

Purpose: To reduce manual entry and consolidate your measurement history.
On-device processing: Health data accessed via HealthKit is processed on your device. We do not transmit your Health data to our servers.
No writing: StepOn does not write any data back to Apple Health.

d) Sign in with Apple

The App supports Sign in with Apple as the only login method. We do not request your name, email address, phone number, or postal address within the App.
Depending on your Apple settings, Apple may provide us with an identifier used to maintain your sign-in session. We use this only for authentication and account access within the App.

e) Analytics and Crash Reports (Firebase)

We use Firebase to help us understand app performance and diagnose crashes.

  • Analytics: We collect app usage and interaction information (e.g., feature usage, basic event logs) to improve the App.
  • Crash reporting: We collect crash logs and diagnostic information to identify and fix stability issues.

We do not use analytics or crash reporting to access, collect, or transmit your body composition records or Apple Health data.

f) Notifications

The App supports reminders/notifications you schedule (including notifications related to syncing/recording body composition information). Notification scheduling and display are handled on your device. We do not collect the content of your notifications.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide core features (record and display your weight/body fat history; optional HealthKit sync for reading).
  • Authenticate access to the App via Sign in with Apple.
  • Improve the App (analytics).
  • Diagnose and fix crashes and performance issues (crash reports).
  • Respond to your support requests.
  • Process account deletion requests and delete data as described below.

5. Data Storage & Security

  • On-device: Body composition records are stored locally in the iOS app sandbox.
  • In transit: Communications with third-party services (e.g., Firebase, Sign in with Apple) use HTTPS/TLS.
  • At rest: Your on-device data is protected by iOS security controls. (Device-level protections such as passcode/biometrics and iOS encryption help protect local data.)

6. Your Choices & Controls

  • In-app deletion / account deletion: You can delete your account within the App. When you delete your account, the App deletes the body composition records stored by StepOn on your device.
  • Health permissions: You can grant or revoke HealthKit access in iOS Settings (Health > Data Access & Devices).
  • Notifications: You can enable/disable notifications in iOS Settings.
  • Support: Contact cob.support@cob-app.com for requests we cannot support in-app.

7. Data Retention

  • Body composition data: Stored on your device until you delete your account in-app, delete the App, and/or until removed from device backups per your Apple settings.
  • Support emails: Retained only as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable period for internal accountability; no fixed retention period is set.
  • Analytics/crash data: Retention is governed by Firebase’s settings and policies.

8. Children’s Privacy

StepOn is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact cob.support@cob-app.com and we will take appropriate steps.

9. International Data Transfers

Firebase and Apple services may process data on servers located outside your country. Their protections and safeguards apply according to their respective policies.

10. Device Permissions

  • Health (HealthKit): Used to read weight and body fat percentage if you choose to enable syncing.
  • Notifications: Used to deliver reminders and related alerts.

The App does not request access to your photos library, camera, microphone, precise location, or advertising identifier.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be communicated in-app or via another appropriate channel. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
